WE ARE MAPLEMERE

PANTHER PRIDE

Maplemere Elementary School is a learning community that celebrates the achievement and hard work of Students and Champions (staff members) daily.  Our goal is to provide a curriculum that fosters academic and social-emotional growth through unique opportunities which we refer to as the "Maplemere Experience."  We believe, "Every child deserves a Champion..." (Rita Pierson, 2013)

Maplemere Teachers Launch Garden Club with SHEF Mini-Grant
We love to see our Panthers learning and growing - quite literally! 🌿

Thanks to a mini grant from the Sweet Home Education Foundation, Inc., Maplemere Elementary teachers Arika Notaro & Claire Mullane were able to start a Garden Club this year. The grant allowed for the purchase of materials and supplies to build raised beds and plant some beautiful flowers that will last for years to come. Students learned about the process from start to finish and will be able to see their handiwork as things grow.

The SHEF Mini-Grant program is designed to help any staff member looking for an award to help improve the student experience and learning for students. In 2024-25, SHEF made awards totaling close to $6,000 to support a variety of projects for students at all levels of our school community. Thank you SHEF, and kudos to Arika & Claire for such a great program! #WeAreSweetHome

Sweet Home Students Participate in Regional Challenge 2 Change
Students from across the Amherst area recently gathered for the impactful Challenge 2 Change summit, hosted at Daemen University. C2C is a day dedicated to student voice, connection, and collective problem-solving. Bringing together multiple school districts, the event created space for students to engage in thoughtful discussions, explore different perspectives, and work collaboratively on issues that matter to them and their peers.

Senior Jaevon Coleman captured the impact best:
“When we gather with other school districts, it gives us the chance to exchange ideas, share our experiences, and listen to the viewpoints of students from all over Amherst. Coming together fosters collaboration and strengthens the educational community beyond just my own district. It’s an incredibly valuable opportunity to learn from each other as we work towards a shared goal at these various stations that ultimately benefit all students.”

We also want to extend a special congratulations to sophomore Patience Richards, whose creativity was on full display as the designer of this year’s event t-shirt for all participants!

We are proud of our students for representing our school community and continuing to lead with empathy, respect, and a commitment to positive change. #WeAreSweetHome

Student Musicians Shine at UB

The Sweet Home Music Festival was a huge success! Nearly 200 student musicians from across the district came together at UB’s Center for the Arts to showcase their talent, teamwork, and love of music. We’re so proud of our students and grateful to our incredible music educators and Board of Education for supporting the arts. Bravo to all who made this special tradition shine! #WeAreSweetHome
